Having served a carving and gilding apprenticeship in Winchester and at the highly prestigious City and Guilds of London Art School in the early 1980’s, Jeremy Rothman set up workshops in Hampshire, initially to serve the London and New York Antiques and Fine Art trade as a restorer of eighteenth century giltwood, and latterly as a manufacturer of the highest quality carved giltwood English looking glasses.

Over the last 30 plus years, his client base has expanded to include many of the world’s leading interior designers and architects, supplying to luxury hotels, super-yachts, museums and stately homes, and his work can be found in many public buildings, from Hatfield House to the Hermitage Museum. He has supplied commissions to senior members of Royal Families, both at home and overseas, as well as to various Heads of State.
His commissions have ranged from a single mirror to complete interior schemes, at all stages working closely with the designer or architect.

In his Hampshire workshops, he creates outstanding examples of English Georgian mirrors and furniture, inspired by the iconic names of the eighteenth century. Each piece is painstakingly hand carved, then gilded, painted or polished so as to be virtually indistinguishable from an original piece of the period.

The workshops include seven water gilders and eighteen woodcarvers, all trained to the very highest standards of craftsmanship and quality.
As one of England’s premier firms of carvers and gilders, Jeremy Rothman upholds an enviable reputation for supplying some of the finest hand carved mirrors and furniture available today, all handmade using the exact same methods and skills as were employed by the very greatest London workshops of the eighteenth century.
